FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about EKOBLOK

Quick, concise answers on choosing the material, laying & plastering, drilling & fastening, and ordering.

What is EKOBLOK made of?+
The main ingredients are cement, stone chips, and rice husk ash.
How is EKOBLOK different from a regular concrete block?+
Being lighter, EKOBLOK reduces heat entering the house, keeping it cooler. Its fine, dense texture also makes drilling and fastening easy — unlike ordinary blocks that conduct more heat or chip into large holes when drilled.
How is EKOBLOK different from clay brick?+
It shares all the qualities of clay brick, except it stays cooler and insulates sound better. EKOBLOK can be used both indoors and outdoors, including bathrooms.
How is EKOBLOK different from lightweight (AAC) brick?+
It shares all the qualities of clay brick, plus it can be used in bathrooms, works with ordinary mortar and plaster, and needs no special anchors to hang heavy objects.
How many EKOBLOK blocks are needed per square meter?+
12 blocks per square meter.
Which mortar and plaster work with EKOBLOK?+
Any standard mortar and plaster works — no special lightweight-block mortar is required, though you may use it if you prefer.
What should I be careful about when using EKOBLOK?+
Because the block has low water absorption, wet it sufficiently before laying — just as you would dampen a clay-brick wall.
How do I drill and fasten into EKOBLOK?+
With plastic anchors it can hold more than 100 kg per point.
Do I need to fill the block's holes with mortar?+
No. The hollow holes act as thermal insulation, and the hole size is designed so that little mortar flows into them anyway.
Where can I buy EKOBLOK, and how much does it cost?+
You can order from us via Facebook (EKOBLOK อิฐก่อผนัง), call 02-096-3221, or buy at any Thai Watsadu store.
